Nine Years Ago…

I was scared. I was excited. I had had a little too much to drink the night before. I was surrounded by my awesome family and friends, and I got to marry my very best friend.

Sometimes, I can hardly believe it was nine years ago, and other times, it seems like it was so long ago.  We were so young…in fact, the church we had originally chosen to marry us was reluctant to do so, given our age.  When I talk to the younger teachers at school, they can hardly believe that at 23 I was married.  My response is always, “When you know it’s right, it’s right.”

So much has changed in nine years, from kids to jobs to lifestyles.  Some people we knew then are still part of our lives, some people have moved on.  I am so grateful to have found someone who I love with all of my heart and who has made me a better version of myself than I could have ever expected.

Happy Anniversary Stephanie, I love you more today than I did then.

I hope you have the happiest of anniversaries!  May you be blessed with many more!

I was 23 and my husband was 22 when we got married.  Your story really made me think because in our area we were considered OLD when we got married rather than young.  We were the last of our friends to get married.  Of course, 13 years later we are still together and everyone else is on their 2nd or 3rd marriage or divorced and single.  We first moved in together when he was 19 and I was 20.  Its been an awesome 17 years!

  3. Congratulations! Sweet post 🙂
